Ganapathy
Ramasamy, holds a Bachelor of Social Science (hons)
degree from USM, a postgraduate Diploma in Labour Studies
from the Polytechnic of North London, and is a graduate
member of the Institute of Personal Management, United
Kingdom.
He served in various capacities in the Department
of the Labour and the Industrial Relations Department.
His last appointment in the Ministry was a Senior
Director of Labour, in charge of the Research and
Planning Unit of the Labour Department Headquarters.
He was a member of the team that introduced the amendments
to the Employment Act, 1955 in the early nineties
and the drafting of the Workers Minimum Standards
of Housing and Amenities Act, 1990.
After his optional retirement in 1993 he worked as
the Industrial Relations adviser of The Malayan Commercial
Banks Association (MCBA) and Personnel Manager of
a multinational plantation company. While with the
MCBA he served on the Industrial Relations Panel of
the Malayan Employers federation (MEF). He also served
on the Human Resources Committee of the Malaysian
Palm Oil Association.
He has extensive experience in training labour officers,
employers, union officers and employees in labour
laws, industrial relations, employee discipline and
HR issues.
Currently he is managing his own human resources
management and industrial relations consultancy firm
