A domain name locates an organization or other entity on the
Internet. For example, the domain name www.masindian.com locates
the Internet address for masindian. The "com" part of the domain
name reflects the purpose of the organization or entity (in
this example, "commercial") and is called the top-level domain
name (other top level domain names are .net for Network and
.org for Organisation). The "masindian" part of the domain
name defines the organization or entity and together with the
top-level is called the second-level domain name. The second-level
domain name maps to and can be thought of as the "readable" version
of the Internet address.
On the Web, the domain name is that part of the Uniform Resource
Locator(URL) that tells a domain name server using the domain
name system (DNS) whether and where to forward a request for
a Web page. The domain name is mapped to an IP address (which
represents a physical point on the Internet).
Hosting (also known as Web site hosting) is the business of
housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or more Web
sites.
A Web site is a related collection of World Wide Web files
that includes a beginning file called a home page. A company
or an individual tells you how to get to their Web site by
giving you the address of their home page. From the home page,
you can get to all the other pages on their site.
Who owns my site?
We consider a website as a client's property. The site ownership
is always assigned to the client. However, this is not
applicable to the free domain registration/hosting promotional
offers and sub-domain packages.
If you own the site, The site transfer can be done without
interacting with the current Hosting provider. If your site
is owned by the designing Company, you should inform them that
you are moving to us so that we would be able interact with
for the process of domain transfer.
